It's a new year and we have quite a few things coming up in the next few months: dances, concerts, workshops and more. If you're in the neighborhood please come along and say hello.
9 February 2008: Lisa Ornstein and Dan Compton play the music of Quebec in concert at Artichoke Music's Backgate Stage, 3130 SE Hawthorne Blvd. in Portland. Lisa just finished a tour with Andre Marchand and is settling down to life in Portland. She and Dan thought that Artichoke would be a good venue for a gig, as it's just about half-way between their respective abodes. Admission is $12 at the door.
16 February 2008: Django Amerson, Fran Slefer & Dan Compton play for the Third Saturday Contradance with caller Sue Baker from Hood River. The venue has not changed: it's at the Fulton Park Community Center, 68 SW Miles Street in Portland. Dance starts at 8 pm; admission is $8 / $6 students.
1 March 2008: Rad Francine with special guest Lisa Ornstein will give us all a strong dose of Quebecois dance music for the Corvallis contra dance with Carol Piening calling. Gatton Hall, First Congregational Church, 4515 West Hills Rd. in Corvallis. Admission is $5.
8 March 2008: Dan teaches an Irish fiddle workshop at the Eugene Irish Cultural Festival.
